We want to have a positive social impact wherever we have assets – from job creation, to ESG measures to working with local community groups.

We have a social value target that sets out some of our ambitions to give back to our communities. Part of this includes our Community Benefit Fund, which commits to providing 10 pence per sq ft of new logistics space delivered to local projects and groups.

Our charity partnerships
Schoolreaders

We are proud charity partners of Schoolreaders. Since 2019, our donations have provided one-on-one literacy support to more than 1,000 children in communities close to our assets. Targeting those most in need, the charity helps primary school children attain the literacy levels needed for secondary education. Schoolreaders’ work has never been more vital. A staggering one in four children leave primary school unable to read each year. This has a long-term impact. Nearly one in six 15-year-olds in England does not have a minimum level of literacy. A further 5.8 million adults score the lowest level of proficiency, unable to read medicine labels or timetables.

Our events

We organise internal and external events throughout the year, from quizzes to marathon challenges to bake offs and much more.  These are all to raise money for our charity partner and other important charities. We also encourage individuals to raise money for causes they are passionate about.

Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge

In 2021/2022, Big Box was the lead sponsor for The Mothership. We supported a female rowing crew of working-mothers, taking part in the gruelling 3,000 mile Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge. The crew completed the Challenge in 40 days, coming second overall in their category and raising over £70K for three charities.

Race facts and figures

1. At its deepest, the Atlantic Ocean is 8.5km/5.28 miles deep

2. The waves that the rowers experienced were up to 20ft high

3. Rowers burnt in excess of 5,000 calories per day

4. Each team rowed in excess of 1.5 million oar strokes during the race

“We couldn’t be more proud of The Mothership for smashing this monumental challenge and making history with their efforts. The commitment and resolve they’ve shown is incredibly inspiring."
